Blogs We Love

Hiptics – Now I’m no hip hop buff, but Chris Franco sure is… and his site, Hiptics, is your stop for the latest in known – and unknown – hip-hop culture. Look here for articles, interviews, and tunes from established artists, but swing back time and again and you’ll be sure to find someone who may not be big now, but is sure to be a big name in a few months. Franco has a keen eye for talent, and you’ll hear about what’s fresh at his site.

Tangled Up In Wires -  Tangled Up in Wires is two guys with nothing better to do than share their great enthusiasm for the “finer” elements of pop culture. With insight, news, reviews, and commentary about the world of entertainment, Jonah and Michael are sure to find what’s cool and let you know about it.

Dust Sleeve - It’s all about Cleveland and music in this CLE-based blog. Find out what to do each week in the “Mistake by the Lake,” listen to fresh tracks from new artists, and discover that the town may not be the “Mistake” that it’s all cracked up to be. Dust Sleeve’s Erin Fox makes it seem… cool, even.

Radio Stations

91.1 FM The Doobie – Denison University’s radio station, it’s student-run on a 24/7 basis. Yeah, you might hear “Rock Lobster” a dozen times in a row, but that’s how they roll. They’re some of the last truly independent minds in radio today, not taking any crap from the Man on a daily basis.

90.3 KEXP – Seattle’s alternative station, it started at the University of Washington but has since taken to the community and become a powerhouse of non-commercial radio.

103.7 FM The Mountain – If independent radio doesn’t do it for you, The Mountain is about as good as commercial radio gets these days. With a world-class music director and a solid lineup of events and promotions, this Seattle-based station is a nice alternative to the formulaic algorithms of pop and rock radio programming.
