The XX – “Crystalised”

10 Feb 2010 by Kat, Comments Off

Today’s track is from The XX, an English chilled-out post punk revival band that’s making waves in way more than their native land.

Just in the last six months, the group’s debut album XX was met with critical acclaim, with a “universal acclaim” ranking on Metacritic. It also ranked well on many best of the year lists, with Rolling Stone placing it at #9. They were placed at number 6 in the 2009 NME The Future 50 list. Their song “Intro” is currently being used in promos for Cold Case and Law & Order in the Netherlands, and “VCR” was featured in an episode of Lie to Me.

This particular track is not as whispery as the rest of the album, but it’s a good intro into the dynamics of The XX. Makes sense that it was the band’s first single. Enjoy.
